Thanks or that link Cats, I'll look at it. Many scanner vendors will stop supporting a. Works on Windows, Mac, and Linux VueScan 9 works on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. It lets you scan photos, documents, and films using any supported scanner. ![]() I can't believe Canon have made what does turn out to be a great little scanner (my CanoScan 8400F) and bundled it with horrible software that's not merely a bad interface, but actually makes the scanner perform well below its capabilities. VueScan is a scanning program that can be used with most high-quality flatbed and film scanners to generate scans with color fidelity and color balance. This is a completely free program that's available in the app store. VueScan is a scanner tool with a comprehensive set of functions. ![]() Hopefully this will sort itself out with the proper version. However in the demo version it didn't seem to offer useful batch scanning, indeed it seemed to require that I know which frame (of the 12 in the film holder) I want to scan, without giving a full preview of the whole lot. Also bearing in mind Alan's comments re: SilverFast issues on his Mac, I will prob go with VueScan. It seems that Silverfast is more expensive too, though i have not delved into great detail re: SilverFast version pricing (looks like there's just 2 rates for VueScan - $50 or $80). I have tried out the SilverFast demo and the interface seems rather less user-friendly than VueScan (with VueScan I had a really nice scan within a few minutes of downloading with SilverFast, well I am still a little puzzled, though the scan quality is indeed excellent too).
